                                                    A DREAM

Last night I  woke up to  a nightmare,
                            My face wet with sweat,
                          My heart thumping with fear...

                        The night outside my window
                           was all quiet and tranquil.
                      The all pervading peace broken
                  occasionally by the ominous barking
                              of the street dogs.

But the street outside was not familiar,
The painting on the wall was missing,
A resplendent wall clock replaced it.

                             Suddenly my heart chocked
As I see the shadow of a woman veiled,
                                 But when I  turn about,
no where I find that woman.
                               Through his face not seen,
But with the lines of the shadow,
I draw the contours of her body.

Soon I start following the shadow,
                         growing restless to her face.
Like the golden deer, like a mirage..
                              She swiftly runs.
Like an insane lover, I follow her.

                            All of a sudden,
                             she stopped
And with a seductive giggle of hers.
                             She turns back,
with a gust of wind her veil flows away

                             I saw her face
                           And with a shock,
                           My dream broke....

                  Those wild and unmixed joy,
                  Those raw sensuous pleasures,
                  Those mindless indulgences,
                    And those slippery paths.

                 The shrill thrill of falling
                       down and down,
                       Nothing above,
                       Nothing below,
                  Just that present state,
                         You are lost,
Intoxicated by the sheer  thrill of falling.

And with the assistance of gravity soon you reach the bottom.
Almost in a crash, with a loud thud you are on the ground....

That is a pit-a dark pit
                       It frightens you
You start clawing out of it
But alas! " climbing ain't that easy."
